The heavy glass bases are not polished all the way around the edge as you would expect. Some areas are rough and unpleasant. Their sides are poorly finished. The hole in the base to attach the column is drilled off-center. Oh, and if you buy these, open the box OUTSIDE. It seems like they drilled the roughly 1" diameter hole in the base while it's sitting in the box. Glass shavings (similar to fiberglass insulation, but thicker) were everywhere, including all over my living room.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
